An Evening Out With Classmates At A Local College Watering Hole Results In Excessive And Abusive Drinking And Alcohol Overdose Symptoms
When Lois was in high school, she had acquired a reputation as a person who studied much of the time and who rarely, if ever, let her hair down by drinking with her peers. She seemed highly motivated to "shine" academically so that she would be able to go after a career that she not only got pleasure from but one that also gave her some security from a financial position.
After Lois completed high school, she applied to and was accepted into a celebrated program in linguistics. Her analysis of her options regarding this decision was based on the fact that this area of study would be a good foundation for law school and would not be indistinguishable from the bulk of law school applicants who major in political science at the undergraduate level.
Lois was the type of individual who worked rigorously to finish what she was doing and then would take some time off when she could. As it turns out, nevertheless, most of the things she did between school sessions or during her summer vacations did not have much of anything to do with drinking. Needless to say, Lois was anything but a party-person. Now that her finals for her second year in law school were done and being delighted with the fact that she had done very well on her finals, however, she wanted to let her hair down and do something besides school work for a change.
So Lois and a number of her friends went to a local club where they had a few shots. As the evening proceeded, Lois and her buddies continued to drink. If truth be told, she was having such a splendid time that she didn't want the night to end.
After drinking around thirty-five minutes when Lois began to slur her speech, talk in a confused manner, and then become unconscious, in spite of this, her buddies instantly realized that they needed to call that they needed to call 911, the emergency services number, and ask for medical assistance because they believed that Lois was manifesting alcohol poisoning symptoms.
Lois was very aware that she came close to losing her life from an alcohol overdose and, as a consequence, was gratified to be alive. At the same time, nonetheless, she was somewhat disheartened knowing that she had almost died the night before. Her Mom and Dad knew how intensely she worked at the university and how little she permitted herself to socialize with her pals. Nonetheless, they also knew that Lois needed to stay away from abusive and careless drinking.
As a result, they recommended that down the road, whenever a drinking opportunity develops, that she always drink responsibly and in moderation. Lois was of the same opinion and promised her friends and her parents that she would never ever drink in an abusive and hazardous manner. In her own words, "I never pondered the fact that I might become one of the alcohol poisoning statistics in the local city newspaper. I now understand that careless and excessive drinking is not my style. I promise that this will never happen again."
Fortunately, Lois was not only "school smart" but she also displayed a lot of. In other words, she rapidly comprehended that she had made an error in judgment and made up her mind that she would not make the same error in judgment again. In actual fact, she now grasped the fact that she had involved herself in "binge drinking" and that even one instance of this type of irresponsible drinking can result in a fatality.
