Bluebird Nesting Box Is One Of The Simples Bird House Plans
There are many types of bird house plans and one of the simplest ones is the eastern bluebird nesting box. This particular plan is very simple that children can build it with a little bit of adult supervision. In spite of its simplicity, it can be a nice addition to your backyard. It also can become a fun activity for the whole family. Before you start building with these bird house plans, firstly you need to collect necessary materials to build the nesting box. The materials are relatively easy to find. Some amount of timber and plywood, a drill, and galvanized nails so they are not rusting are the materials that you need. Once you got them all, you can start turning the bird house plans into something real. When the bird house plans and the materials are ready at hand, the first step to do is to measure, mark, and cut the wood so you have enough pieces for the bottom, walls, and the roof. Then you should determine the location of the entry hole for the birds and drill it. Depending on the size of the native birds around your area, the smallest diameter of the hole should be an inch and a half. After you have done this, you can nail together the walls to the bottom. You need to remember that you should have a way to access the box. Therefore, you should only use three nails instead of four so you leave a side that can swing out and thus you can fill the box with seeds. It is still important to lock this swinging side and you can use a screw for this purpose. In this case, you can easily remove it when you want to check the box. When the bird house is done, then you can put it on a free standing pole. The height should be around four to five feet to prevent any predator accessing the bird house. Moreover, you should put everything on an open area or at least at the edge of an open area. It is not a good idea to place it under the tree because predators can access from the top. Another consideration is to place it facing east or north so it is not exposed to a lot of sun and wind. The most suitable time to place your bird house is in late March as that is the season for most birds to lay eggs. There are still many types of bird house plans that you can use. You also can design them by your own. The one discussed in this article is perhaps only the simplest one. If you want to try a more complex and beautiful plan, then go for it.
